Practical Analysis of Nutritional Data (PANDA)
Food and Livelihood Security is a topic which is coming to the forefront of nutritional assessments and policies throughout Africa and much as Asia. It is our goal to introduce these concepts, provide illustrations of how households cope with food insecurity, and to explain data analysis techniques which can be applied to Food Security surveys. The Food Security Module is organized in the following manner: Section 1: Introduction Section 2: Coping Strategies Section 3: Computing Section 4: Analysis Example (HLS Bangladesh) Section 5: Analysis Example (HLS Kenya)

FANTA
In November 2000, FANTA and FAM sponsored a workshop on data analysis held in Nairobi, Kenya. The purpose of the workshop was to provide participants with basic skills in analyzing population-based survey data and to strengthen skills in analyzing health and agriculture evaluation data. Twenty-seven participants attended from PVOs in Ethiopia, The Gambia, Ghana, Kenya, Madagascar, Mozambique, Sudan and Uganda. The majority of the participants will be collecting and analyzing data (including baseline surveys, mid-term and final evaluations) in the next year and the workshop responded to their specific needs. The five-day workshop was participatory and included breakout sessions where participants analyzed data using Epi Info or SPSS software. The Workshop materials including the agenda, handouts, and exercises are available.

FEWS
The following mini-manual is intended to outline the new FEWS analytical framework, its associated information requirements and to introduce some specific tasks that link to core concept areas. As such, the mini-manual provides general guidance on common information objectives to be used by the FEWS Net Representatives as a template for country-specific planning. The document is organized in three sections: 1. Vulnerability/Baseline Information; 2. Hazard/Shock Information; and 3. Risk/Outcome Analysis. The reader is encouraged to move throughout the document to relevant sub-categories using the blue hypertext buttons (if viewing from a computer). For the most part sub -category text is limited to one page in order to maintain a high level of focus and clarity and to help the reader see the connections between subcategories and the three concept areas.
